We will be exploring the paramitas, or six perfections, of a bodhisattva over the next coming weeks.
The Six Paramitas are:
Generosity (Pali, Sanskrit: dana)
Ethical Conduct (Pali, Sanskrit: sila)
The Five Mindfulness Practices
Protecting life
Prevent exploitation
Prevent sexual abuse
Practice deep listening and loving speech
Mindful consumption
Patience (Pali: knanti; Sanskrit: ksanti)
Diligence (Pali: viriya; Sanskrit: virya)
Meditation (Pali: jhana; Sanskrit: dhyana)
Wisdom (Pali, Sanskrit: prajna)
As we connect the paramitas with our daily practice, we'll explore them through bodily connections, associated thoughts or beliefs, and fear (what's the worst that could happen?).
A recommended text to help with your individual practice with the paramitas is The Six Perfections by Dale S. Wright. Click on the book cover to be directed to the publisher's page.
Body scan practices can be a very helpful tool in learning to really feel what is happening throughout our bodies, especially as we deal with challenges or difficulties. Here are links to two body scans to help with your practice.
